kosuke tsumura is the protege of issey miyake from 1983 till the launch of his futuristic brand in 1994. a new brand with the core ideas of survival, practicality and protection. the clothes designed were set in a post-electricity apocalyptic world, an ideology that was derived by the urge to survive in any cataclysmic circumstances. naturally, nylon is often the material of choice for the jackets, doubling up in style and function. the jackets often have extensive storage pockets meant to store different items necessary for survival. tsumura’s futuristic approach continues to this day and has expanded from nylon jackets to multiple forms of outdoor wear, sofa covers and even candles. the core concept still remains the same - survival, practicality and protection. maybe one day, final home’s design will come in handy.
