despite leaving his eponymous brand in 2005, helmut lang’s work is an unbeknown blueprint to many modern designers. the minimalist introduced unusual elements with impeccable tailoring onto the glamorous runways. he was innovative in the choice of materials - choosing to incorporate atypical materials like metallic cloth and rubber into jackets and denim. there was also a hint of perversion in his work at times, as shown from his bondage elements into the pants in SS04 and the infamous SS05 nipple tank top.
