nemeth contrast piping shirt
christopher nemeth’s influence on the 90s harajuku scene is extremely understated. his anatomically shaped garments routinely made it into cult favourite magazines (fruits) and shaped how an entire generation of chic Japanese youths expressed their individuality.
this piece in particular embodies what nemeth’s designs were like in the 90s harajuku scene. featuring a red overlock stitch sewn around the hems of the shirt, this shirt has exaggerated shoulders with the excess fabric giving an illusion of a rounded shoulder. the sleeves are also a talking point for the shirt, with excess fabric sewn upwards onto the sleeve to create a scrunched up look. they have also been furnished with black buttons that can be unbuttoned to change the look.
